- 12 min read

Dates: 28th October – 1st November 2026
Duration: 5 Days / 4 Nights
Route: Bagdogra – Manebhanjan – Tumling – Tonglu – Kalapokhri – Sandakphu – Thakum – Chitre – Bagdogra
Max Altitude: 3,636 m / 11,930 ft
Focus: Landscape Photography, Astrophotography, High-Altitude Panoramas, Visual Storytelling & Mentorship
Overview
This is not designed as a conventional sightseeing trip. It is an immersive, photography-led expedition along the Singalila Ridge, curated specifically around the evolving character of Himalayan light—from crisp pre-dawn blue hours and sunset alpenglow to dark-sky celestial photography.
Climbing from the sub-Himalayan plains to Sandakphu (3,636 m), the photographic narrative shifts across altitudes: tea gardens and mist-laden pine forests transition into sweeping open ridgelines and unobstructed panoramas of four of the world's five highest summits—Khangchendzonga (the "Sleeping Buddha"), Mt. Everest, Lhotse, and Makalu.

Day Exploration: Drive across open high-altitude meadows towards Thakum (Phalut direction). We focus on grand-scale landscape photography—using winding tracks, solitary trees, and ridge contours to establish scale.
Night Masterclass: Sunset followed by our final major astro field session: composite star trails, astro-panoramas, foreground light-painting, and deep-sky alignments over mountain silhouettes.
Workshop Focus: Negative space, panoramic stitching, telephoto compression, and advanced multi-frame night compositions.

Workshop Wrap-up: Visual storytelling and portfolio review during the descent, focusing on curating cohesive photo essays from high-altitude expeditions. Drop-off at Bagdogra Airport.
Important Note on Night Sky & Astrophotography Sessions
All astrophotography, star trail, Milky Way, and night-sky sessions along the Singalila Ridge and Sandakphu are strictly subject to prevailing weather, atmospheric clarity, cloud cover, and celestial conditions. While the workshop is strategically routed through pristine, high-altitude dark-sky vantage points with zero light pollution, Himalayan weather remains inherently unpredictable. In the event of dense cloud cover or poor visibility at night, field schedules will be dynamically adapted to prioritize indoor image critiques, RAW processing masterclasses, astro-stacking demonstrations, exposure blending clinics, and blue-hour mountain landscape techniques.
